"You and me got a whole lot of history," the band sings. However, there is a definite optimism in the track as it continues. Both One Direction and their fans are emotionally affected by the upcoming hiatus. It's also a nod to the uncertainty of the future. "No, they don't teach you this in school / Now my heart's breaking and I don't know what to do / Thought we were going strong / Thought we were holding on /Are we?" feels like a clear reference to the band's not-so-smooth 2015.
